मूल रूप से दिल्ली निवासी संजीव तंवर ने अपनी स्कूली शिक्षा पूरी करने के बाद रंगमंच में अपनी गहरी रूचि को देखते हुए 1996 मे दिल्ली दिल्ली के श्रीराम सेंटर ऑफ आर्ट्स एंड कल्चर मे दो वर्ष के डिप्लोमा कोर्स में हिस्सा लिया और वहां से नाट्य कला मे डिप्लोमा हासिल किया। इसके उपरांत उन्होंने नाटक लेखन के अलावा अंग्रेजी की कई क्लासिक कृतियों का हिंदी अनुवाद किया जैसे द टाइम मशीन (एच जी वेल्स ) , मैन एंड सुपरमैन (जी बी शॉ ) , अडोल्फ हिटलर (जेम्स बंटिंग ) , एंटोनी एंड क्लियोपैट्रा (शेक्सपियर ) , ओल्ड मन एंड द सी (अर्नेस्ट हेमिंग्वे) इनके अलावा उन्होंने कई नाटक जैसे शरद जोशी की लघु कथा पर चुनाव एक मुर्गा बीती, शिवानी की कहानी पर किशनूली, व्लादिमीर नबोकोव के उपन्यास पर लोलिता एवं कोर्ट इस अड्जॉर्नेड जैसे मूल नाटक लिखे। हिंदी सिनेमा से गहरे लगाव के चलते उन्होंने भरत व्यास की फिल्मोग्राफी तुझे मेरे गीत बुलाते हैं लिखी और इसके अलावा हिंदी फिल्म पोस्टर्स पर दो पुस्तकें pictorial Journey of Hindi Cinema 1939 एवं pictorial Journey of Hindi Cinema 1940 का संकलन किया। हाल ही में हिंदी सिनेमा पर उनकी पुस्तक Silent Cinema in India (1913 -1934) प्रकाशित हुई है।
हिंदी फिल्म जगत में संगीत के सुनहरे दौर में वैसे तो अनेकों गीतकार हुए लेकिन उनसे से ज्यादातर ने अपनी भाषा में उर्दू को प्रमुखता दी ऐसे दौर में साहित्यिक हिंदी में गीत लिखना कितनी बड़ी चुनौती रही होगी आज इसका अंदाजा लगाना बेहद मुश्किल है। उस दौर में कवि प्रदीप , पंडित नरेंद्र शर्मा जैसे गीतकारों में से एक थे पंडित भरत व्यास जिनकी कलम से लिखे गीतों ने प्रसिद्धि के विराट गगन को स्पर्श किया। उनके गीत जैसे 'ऐ मालिक तेरे बन्दे हम', 'आधा है चन्द्रमा' इत्यादि आज भी किसी परिचय के मोहताज नहीं हैं।
पंडित भरत व्यास की फिल्मों पर अब तक का सबसे अनूठा, सम्पूर्ण एवं प्रामाणिक ग्रन्थ जिसमे उनकी सभी फिल्मों की जानकारी , सभी फिल्मों के पोस्टर्स , उनकी जीवनी , गैर फिल्म गीत एवं उनकी काव्य रचनाओं के अलावा और भी बहुत सी दुर्लभ जानकारी दी गयी है। हिंदी फिल्मों के गीतकारों पर बहुत कम पुस्तकें उपलब्ध है, उसी कड़ी मे प्रस्तुत है पंडित भरत व्यास फिल्मोग्राफी 'तुझे मेरे गीत बुलाते हैं '
