I have been seeing this mistake for more than a decade. I and Irfan Anwar, son of the Music Director Khurshid Anwar have been correcting it forever :)

It is about the song, 'Ari O Mohe Cheed Gayaa' from Singar (1949). It shows Cuckoo and a male dancer. Since the name of Prem Dhawan is mentioned as a dancer in the credits, people claim that it is Prem Dhawan. It is NOT. It is actually Suryakumar or Robert Master, whose first film it was. He later became a famous Choreographer, sometimes dancing, eg, in Mr and Mrs 55, Barish, Nau Do Gyarah.

OK, so what about Prem Dhawan? He shows up in a dance number soon after the birth of a child is announced.

Suryakumar's filmography can be seen in Upendra's book on Group Dancers.

This was the first film of Prem Dhawan as a dancer, he had written lyrics for three films earlier.

When I went there in 1957, there were two more, Society and Kailash. Both were called New Cinemas!

In 1957, my father was involved in the building of another new cinema Laxmi. After running from city to city for his livelihood, since being uprooted from Lahore in 1947, this is where he met the owner of a bicycle spare parts factory and he finally became the accountant of his factory. This is from a PhD dissertation in Hindi, submitted to a university from Jhansi in 1989.

Does dissertation continue with discussion of various facets of Hindi prosody (including Urdu, sometimes) with many examples from the lyrics of Hindi film songs. He does include songs from other languages sometimes. He continues of the discussion of more Alankars and Rasas.

Another interesting discussion is about Nayika Bhed (or Heroine Types) in Hindi and Sanskrit literature. Depending on the source consulted the number ranges from 8 to 12. The candidate for phd considers the following main types.

Svakeeyaa (Hero's own significant other)

Mugdhaa (The enchanted one)

Navodhaa (The young and inexperienced one)

Vaasakasajjaa (The one who is dressed up for Union)

Parakeeyaa (The one involved with another)

Lubhitaa (The one overcome with intense desire)

Abhisaarikaa (The one who is in meeting or planning to meet her lover)

Proshitatapitakaa (The one who is sad because her lover is or has gone away)

Aagabhishyatpatikaa (The onw is happy that her lover has returned or returning)
