Hindi Films, all aspects

When Hamraaz published Volume 1 of the Hindi Film Geet Kosh in 1988, he did not have much info about this film. See the entry

Even if you cannot read Hindi, you can tell that apart from the name, year, production company, subject and the first lines of songs, not much info was available, not even the cast! Later on he obtained the gazettes for the Censor Certificate info, which is now available on the Database Website and also in two books published by us.

Recently, I posted an interview with Leela Mishra from Filmfare where we found out that she was the film's heroine. Then Sudarshan Talwar pointed out a photo he had posted from his vast collection, a photo without any mark whatsoever, I might add. So now we know the hero and the heroine. Of course, this info will be added with thanks to him.

We need more people like Sudarshan Talwar!

New T37

After the Chinese invaded India and defeated India soundly in 1962, because of the stupidly of our then-leaders, NCC (National Cadet Corps) became compulsory for High school and college students. I was involved in it for 4-5 years.

One Sunday I and my friends were returning from the parade that was held in grounds just beyond the Govt College, Ludhiana, we saw police presence near the main gate. It must have been early or mid-1965. We saw lots activity on the roof of the Chemistry building and soon realized that a film was being shot. We were able to watch the whole thing from the boundary wall. From a distance we saw two people running and some others chasing them. They were doing it again and again.

It turned out that it was Bhagat Singh and Rajguru, who, after having shot John Saunders had taken shelter in a college in Lahore and my alma mater, Govt College, Ludhiana was playing the role of that Lahore college!

Watch this clip where they are seen on the roof being chased.
