This is the earliest use that I have found of the English curse phrase "Damned". The actor is beside himself, cannot stand the situation and says, Damned it! Damned aankhen! Damned noor!. From President (1937)

I think everybody knows about my quest to identify and learn more about every single actor that had a speaking part in a Hindi film (at least to 1960). I have posted about 200 photos of lesser known character actors on my website. Thanks to my BFF Dr Kapur, I was able to get in touch with and learn more about one more such person. He is actually very well known and his father is Pahadi Sanyal.

Amazing film from all angles, photography by Bimal Roy. music by Pankaj Mullick! The tile music starts with a tune that was used later by Amir Ali in a very successful film Panna (1944) in the song 'kaalee ghaTaa chhaye' sung by Rajkumari. The music pieces had charkhi or charakhaDee that is played by quickly rotating or oscillating it so that the beads at the end of threads hit the drum in the middle. Used in qawwalis much later.
