In the preface to his book on Junior Artists, Upendra writes,

"Once you start to see these individuals they become like a family, one could always count on to show up in a party or a crowd scene."

After watching hundreds of songs, I also feel like that. But it was not always so.

In the early 90s, I got and saw lots of movies and kept seeing this fat guy, but I had no ides who her was. Lights came on when I saw the credits in Baiju Bawra (1952).

I always wondered what kind of problems were faced by Anglo-Indian and other non-Hindi speaking stars when talkies came. I read that they could not speak Hindi well, but no examples, until now. Here is Fearless Nadia explaining how she mis-pronounced the word 'chhoD' meaning to leave alone, in an interview with Rosie Thomas in  Feb 1986.
