Since 1999

In the first 5 years, sound was mostly recorded on film, either the same as video or separately. The record companies did not come into play. So, until 1935, very few gramophone records of Hindi films were issues. Even a super-hit like Devdas had only 2 records issued. The first Hindi film to have all its songs on records was Achhut Kanya (1936).
