When I was in TIFR I watched Sholay 8 times. Of course, I liked the movie very much but the main reason was that whenever somebody came to visit Bombay they wanted to see it in the Minerva Theater with big screen and special sound effects, so I took them to Minerva. By this time people have seen this movie so many times that they used to say the lines before they were actually uttered on screen, for example, Kitanay Aadamee Thay!
Recently I watched this famous Italian movie. This is what Wikipedia has to say about it:
"Credited with revitalizing Italy's film industry, Cinema Paradiso has been cited as one of the greatest films of all time, and a world cinema classic.[3] The ending is considered among the greatest endings in film history. It was a commercial success, and won several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film[4] and the Cannes Film Festival's Grand Prix. It was nominated for 11 BAFTA Awards and won five; including Best Actor for Philippe Noiret, Best Supporting Actor for Salvatore Cascio, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Foreign Language Film, a record for a foreign language feature until it was broken by All Quiet on the Western Front in 2023."
In that small town in which the movie is set people were crazy about movies. It is especially the story of an 8 year old boy who watched his first film and then fell in love with the movies. I watched my first film when I was 6 years old and have been crazy about the movies since that time.
Now You Know!
In this clip you can see one man shouting the dialog before the actors on screen say their lines.
