A Said Remembrance

About a year ago my dear friend and collaborator Gurcharan passed away. Not a day goes by when I don't remember him, specially  when I am working on the database project.  I remember how much he contributed to the Geet Kosh. 

About two years go, when I was working on volume 3, I had a special book printed for him and sent it to him and he, even while he was seriously ill, actually marked in ink updates and corrections on that volume. Mr Jamal Akbar, my friend from the UK was able to get that annotated volume from his house and he is now helping me with that information.

He may be gone but his contributions toward Hindi films will not be forgotten.

Born in Palghar in 1949, educated in Bombay, shifted to Surat in 1967. His book on Mukesh was the first ever Geet Kosh on any singer in the Hindi Film Geet Kosh format, it came out in 1985.

I learned about him the late 90s and we started exchanging emails and talked a few times. Sadly, I never met him.

Whenever I requested him to send me anything, he did so quickly and without expecting anything in return. Very hard working and dedicated individual. He is one of the few who made a substantial contribution to the Hindi Film Geet Kosh volumes. Apart from his won books, he also co-authored abook on K L Saigal.

Just heard the sad news from Har Mandir Singh 'Hamraaz' who forwarded this message from the family:

🙏🏻OM SHANTI🙏🏻.                        

It is with deep sorrow that our elder brother Shri Harish Raghuwanshi, has left us on 27th August at 11.00 Pm. He was a cherished family member and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His memory will remain in our hearts forever.

Last rituals :- 28th August Around 10 Am from his residence to Umra Smashan gruh.
