Har Mandir Singh 'Hamraaz' and I are happy to report that the work of expanding, updating and checking of the Song Information of the Hindi Film Geet Kosh Volume I (1931-1940) in Hindi and English has been completed, for now.

This is a major update since September 1988 when the First Edition of this volume was published (almost 36 years ago!) and incorporates all the information available to us as of now.

We have already reported the updates of the Censor Certificate information (on June 25, 2024), and Filmography (on July 19, 2024) for this decade. Now, we have updated the Song Information including picturization.

Here is a summary:

First Edition had a lot of missing Song Information. We have now provided more data about singers, lyricists, music directors, assistant music directors, 78 RPM record information and microgroove information. 

Sadly, only 40 movies are available to watch for this decade and we have provided song picturization info for the main actors and also others present in the 393 songs from these 40 movies by watching them carefully.

Happily, 'Hamraaz' had collected thousands of film booklets and many of them have song picturization information. That has been used for 3,546 songs from 436 films.

With this update, the database website now has the filmography and the song information for 3,050 films and 25,259 songs from 1931-1940, 1951-1970, also keeping in mind the censor certification information for 11,331 films for 1931-2010.

Work on the decade 1941-1950 is in progress.
