The earliest known version is by Miss Akhtari in the 30s. This is the Shamshad version, later we have the Yaaqoob version, and, of course, the most famous Pakeeza version.

Usually it is believed that the song 'tum rooTh ke mat jaana' is the first example of the Panjabi folk form called Tappa. I found this one from 1941. There may be others.
