Mr Parikh was a Vaishnav Gujarati and Miss Lakdawala was Bohra Muslim.
Their families disapproved of the match but they got married anyway on August 1st 1941 in a civil court.
Their common friend Ayub hosted a celebration at Purohit, a vegetarian restaurant with close friends.
Asha Parikh was born on Oct 2, 1942. Slowly the families relented and everything was OK.

It is now available on the database website
With this we have Filmography information 6,361 Hindi films from 1931 to 1985.
Work is on progress on the song information and will be put up in due course.

I had borrowed this book from a library in 2011 and scanned about one half of it and put it on my website.
I have now scanned all of it and have uploaded it on the Internet Archive website.
It is a really very good directory, gives you a snapshot of the film industry in India and neighboring countries in 1952.
I hope it'll be useful to researchers.
