Since 1999

Edwina, perhaps the most well-known and recognizable background dancer of Hindi cinema, passed away two years ago.

I remember the lessons I learned while preparing her biography.

She faced heavy odds but still succeeded so well.

1. She was born a girl, and expected to behave in a certain way. She defied that.

2. She was born into a minority community of Anglo-Indians. Being in a minority community is a handicap, she defied that.

3. Even though she was a Christian, she faced discrimination in her new homeland, the UK. She ignored all that, got the required training, and became productive member of society and raised a happy family.
