TARANA (3 volumes)
(A Journey of Hindustani Non-Film Recorded Songs)

Compiled by Raj Dogra of New Delhi, TARANA is a unique compendium proposed to be published in 3 volumes that contains information of nearly all the Hindustani and Urdu non-film songs recorded on gramophone discs and sung during the period beginning from the advent of recording technique i.e. 1899 onward and up to 1980. Information in this book is being presented singer-wise in 3 volumes in English language.  TARANA-1, published in July 2016, covers the details of 10,102 Hindustani non-film recorded songs sung by the singers whose names start with alphabet ‘A’ to ‘G’.  Containing 694 pages of A4 size (8.27”x11.69” / hard-bound), its 2nd edition was published in January 2023. TARANA-2, published in August 2016, covers the details of 11,288 Hindustani non-film recorded songs sung by the singers whose names start with alphabet ‘H’ to ‘M’.  Containing 754 pages of A4 size (8.27”x11.69” / hard-bound), its 2nd edition was published in January 2023.

TARANA-3, with details of about 14,000 non-film songs, sung by the singers whose names start with alphabet ‘N’ to ‘Z’ is being made ready for music lovers as early as possible, may in April 2025 itself, in 800 pages of A4 size (8.27”x11.69”/hard-bound).

Raj Dogra had earlier assisted in compiling Gata Rahe Mera Dil with others which carries detailed information of songs sung by singer - actor - music director - producer - director - lyricist Kishore Kumar.  He has also compiled and published another unique compendium titled TUM PUKAR LO, carrying detailed information of songs sung by singer-music director-producer Hemant Kumar.
