I write this post with a heavy heart. In the morning Dinesh Srivastava shared the sad news from Mrs Phatak. Shashikant was my roommate for almost 6 years when we were doctoral students at the University of Pittsburgh (1969-1975).

Here is the message:

"An extremely bad news. My husband Shashikant Phatak is no more!!! He was suffering from lungs infection. He was admitted to Deenanath for about two and half weeks. He was discharged after that and he was improving. But after about a month, that is on 6th Oct night, he breathed his last

meera phatak"
