Mr Parikh was a Vaishnav Gujarati and Miss Lakdawala was Bohra Muslim.
Their families disapproved of the match but they got married anyway on August 1st 1941 in a civil court.
Their common friend Ayub hosted a celebration at Purohit, a vegetarian restaurant with close friends.
Asha Parikh was born on Oct 2, 1942. Slowly the families relented and everything was OK.
