This was the first Indian talkie ('All Talking Singing Dancing') film made in Hindi-Urdu language. According to music director Kersee Mistry, the tunes of all the 7 songs of the film were composed by his father Late Firozashaah M Mistry (18.06.1880-18.07.1957). A film each made with the same title in 1956 and 1973 was passed by the censor board and in both these films, understanding the historical importance of the first Hindi film song included in 1931 - De De Khuda Ke Naam Pe Pyare..., it was again included in the voice of Wazir Muhammad Khaan, while filming it himself. According to the information given on page 297 (No. 10116) of the Gazzette published by the Government of India for the month of March 1931 on 2 April 1931, the film 'Alam Ara' was viewed by the Censor Board on 9 March 1931 and the censor certificate was issued on 11 March 1931, after which this first Indian talkie film was first screened at the Majestic Cinema in Girgaon, Bombay on 14 March 1931. |
