Songs from the First Oriya Film / Talkie “Sitar Bibaha” (1934)

& Other Vintage Oriya Gramophone Records

Vintage era 78 rpm gramophone records donated by Mr Nihar Ranjan Mohanty (email : nihar.m11@gmail.com) to Mr M.V. Surender (www.kundanlalsaigal.com). Some of the songs are from the very first Oriya film (as well as the very first Talkie) “Sitar Bibaha”, produced and directed by Mohan Sundar Deb Goswami, a friend of his father Late Mr Prafulla Mohanty, also his neighbour in Puri city, Orissa and released in 1934.

Mr Madhusudan Sarma, the well known record collector of Hyderabad, painstakingly cleaned up the records, digitized the recordings and finally edited the same.
