I knew about the silent and talkie star with this name, having read about him in Hindi Film Geet Kosh and other books. So when I saw the name in Aurat (1940) as an Assistant Recordist, I wondedred if he is the same person. The Encyclopedia of Indian Cinema has a very detailed entry on him, but sadly is silent about this matter.
I asked many friends, some said the two are different, others said he is the same.
Finally, I saw the proof that he is the same man in Filmfare, Oct 2, 1964.
