In Ludhiana in 1952 there were 4, Minerva, Raiky, Naulakha, Deepak.
When I went there in 1957, there were two more, Society and Kailash. Both were called New Cinemas!
In 1957, my father was involved in the building of another new cinema Laxmi. After running from city to city for his livelihood, since being uprooted from Lahore in 1947, this is where he met the owner of a bicycle spare parts factory and he finally became the accountant of his factory.
